High School Youth Speaker

Joel Penton is one of the nation’s leading High School youth speaker. He attended Ohio State University where he played football for the Buckeyes for five years. During his tenure, he was a member of three Big Ten championship teams, a participant of the National Champion team, and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Also, during his senior year, Joel was awarded the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as the Humanitarian Heisman, is awarded in recognition of outstanding conduct and service for college football players. The All Sports Association created and awards the trophy with three aspects in mind:

1.) Academics – The recipient must have outstanding grades and academic record.
2.) Athletics – The recipient must be active in a major college football team.
3.) Community Service – The recipient must actively work in and support the community in which they live.

With these three areas in mind, the Wuerffel Trophy selects nominations that best represent their ideals. Joel Penton received the award in 2006.

After graduating from college Joel decided against a career as a professional athlete in the NFL and instead began a career as a High School youth speaker. Joel’s presentations revolve around making and fulfilling commitments. He provides examples of his own personal experiences that an ordinary person can accomplish great things by realizing their promises and keeping their word. Joel is not a High School youth speaker that shares stories about what to avoid, and wrong personal choices made in his life, rather his message is focused on the positive and reinforcing good attitudes and experiences.

Of Joel’s assembly programs, 93.4% of school administrators and teachers recommend Joel indicating that his presentation was better than other assemblies held in the past. And of those 93.4%, 99.7% believe that Joel’s presentation would be beneficial to other schools as well. Contact Joel Penton to schedule an assemble and hear what Joel can do.

Stand your ground.  Don't back down.

What does it mean to stand your ground? People today are
constantly making commitments and breaking them.  Look at
divorce rates, credit card debts, New Years's resolutions... and
the list of unfulfilled promises goes on.  It it even possible to
keep our commitments?

Stand your ground,  Don't back down.

Joel Penton says, "Yes it is possible" - he knows from
experience.  Like most of your students, Joel was put into
situations in middle school and high school where it would
have been easy to compromise and break his commitments.
However, he chose to rise above the pressure and keep the
committments he made in school, in football, and in life.

Stand your ground.  Don't back down.

Joe will say that it takes character, it takes will, and the road
will be hard.  But his personal experience is proof that ordinary
people can accomplish great things by simply following through
with the commitments they have made.  Your students will be
inspired and reminded of the importance of not just making
committments, but also keep those commitments.

Don't back down.  Stand your ground.
